Roads on the Medicine Bow - Routt National Forests and Thunder Basin National Grassland, in Colorado and Wyoming, with attributes attached that can be queried and symbolized to mimic, in part, the roads as displayed on the Forest's Motor Vehicle Use Maps (MVUM). This feature class is made from a linear event layer created from the master Road route layer using the II_MVUM_ROAD_ALLOW table from NRM/INFRA (separate oracle database). This feature class is probably the most appropriate layer to use when determining where motorized vehicles are allowed to travel on forest for the general public, but ONLY if appropriate use is made of the attribute information. <\/SPAN><\/P>

IMPORTANT NOTE: This feature class contains many roads that do not appear on the MVUM map and where motorized travel is not allowed. To display or use only those roads that appear on the MVUM map, query for SYMBOL >= 1, or use the Transportation_MVUM_RdTrl.lyr layer file. Some existing open system roads that are available to Forest Service personnel or permitted publics will not display using these methods as they are not available to the general public. <\/SPAN><\/P>

This layer is usually re-created annually, after updates for the Forest's Motor Vehicle Use Map (MVUM) have been completed. This layer was last updated on 05/01/2016 to include changes required for the Motor Vehicle Use Maps (MVUM) of 2016 and to edgematch to the adjacent National Forest's.<\/SPAN><\/P>

2015/2016 Note: Due to a known database error, a few roads on Thunder Basin National Grassland display as available for motorized travel in this spatial layer, but do not display on the 2015 MVUM map, as they cannot be located on the ground (appear to not exist at all). The INFRA database must be updated to bring these values into synch, based on Road Management Objective (RMO) information, after which time this spatial layer should be refreshed. Update 2016 - unknown if these roads were fixed in INFRA or not, so may or may not be OK. Should be checked and confirmed during next edit cycle.<\/SPAN><\/P>

Note to Editor: due to an issue with the way the SYMBOL code is auto-generated by the II_MVUM_ROAD_ALLOW table for roads that are officially under the jurisdiction of a different national forest, road 516.1 must have the value in the SYMBOL field hand-edited and changed from NULL to 1. It's easiest to do this in the II_MVUM_ROAD_ALLOW table before creating the linear events. This road is under the jurisdiction of the Arapaho-Roosevelt NF, but crosses the boundary between the AR and the Routt multiple times and hence needs to appear on our MVUM maps and be available for
